Washington Cold Cases: Mysteries in the Evergreen State

Here is a list of cold or unsolved cases in the state of Washington (WA) that I’ve written about:

Thomas C. Wales: A Federal Prosecutor Silenced

Murdered on October 11, 2001 · Seattle, Washington

On the evening of October 11, 2001, Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas C. Wales was working at his computer in the basement of his Seattle home when shots were fired through his window, striking and killing him. As a dedicated federal prosecutor and vocal advocate for gun control legislation, Wales had made his share of enemies throughout his career. The FBI believes the killer stood in Wales’ backyard and fired several shots from a handgun with a replacement barrel, making the weapon difficult to trace. Despite one of the most extensive investigations in FBI Seattle history, with a $1.5 million reward offered, no one has been charged with his murder.
